Acrylic Mother of Pearl is a two-component coating based on acrylic resin and selected pearlescent pigments, enhanced with special additives to produce a hammer-like finish. The product provides a natural, pearl-transparent effect that changes subtly with the color of the substrate, giving an attractive and decorative appearance.The product has a pearlescent appearance with a white color, a specific gravity of 0.97 Kg/L (±0.025), weight solids of 42% (±2), and weight solids blended of 38% (±2). It is recommended for a variety of interior woodworks, including kitchens, internal doors and frames, headboards, and drawers.
Application: Acrylic Mother of Pearl can be used on veneer substrates, solid wood, and MDF treated with pigmented polyurethane or polyester basecoats. Two or more coats are recommended depending on the desired coverage. After the basecoat dries, sand it with at least 400-grit sandpaper and ensure the surface is free of residues before applying the topcoat. The typical application rate is approximately 100 g/m², though the number of coats may vary based on surface preparation, substrate porosity, and the desired finish.
Spray Application: Use a spray gun with a 1.8–2.0 mm nozzle at 3–4 atm/bar. Once dried, the product does not require any special post-treatment. However, for added effects, an acrylic topcoat can be applied over Mother of Pearl after 2 hours without sanding. A glossy topcoat increases brightness, while a matt topcoat provides a muted finish.
