Geocomposites
Protexia geocomposites, created by bonding selected geomembranes, geotextiles, drainage cores or geogrids, are manufactured by GEOfabrics Limited using a state-of-the-art production facility. Almost any two or more geosynthetics may be bonded together in multiple layers in widths of up to 6m.
Increasing environmental restrictions and taxes associated with traditional mineral aggregates means that the proven benefits of geosynthetics become even more attractive. And at up to 6m wide, rolls of Protexia geocomposites offer additional savings in time as they are quicker to place than individual components.
Geosynthetics play a major role in extending the maintenance interval for track ballast. Depending on the nature of the subgrade, geocomposites are deployed to:
* prevent pumping of subgrade fines
* control seepage and run-off
* stabilise a subgrade to improve bearing capacity and maintain track alignment
